Has it been this long?

Wow.
ok. We've slacked on the Blog thang. Sorry all.

Busy minds get preoccupied with their work. Which is one reason i'm able to take the time and write now! Science Vs Nature has scored an amazing deal with an incredible new management company. We're not allowed to give any news yes, but things are looking VERY exciting.

Oh, hell. I'll let ya know a little something: They've asked Science to learn how to DJ, and asked me to return to the decks. I used to DJ all over the place about 10 years ago, but gave it all up to study music and production. Should be interesting to see what 10 years of maturity and growth do to a veteran DJ, with LOADS of new toys and modern gear.
As for Science, I'm extremely curious as to how he plans on setting his "decks" up.

The management team has already done wonders with us, and we're very excited to have people excited to do business with us. Win/Win.

Podcast #19 - Synchronicity (Nature remix)

Many thanks to Ken Spector for doing the vocals for our latest song, to be released Sept 7, 2009. Entitled "Synchronicity," the Nature remix will certainly remind all of you of that moment on the dance floor when everyone is looking around at each other and feeling the same thing.

And as always, you can find all our tracks available through a google search, or just go to:

On present news, this past monday gave us an INCREDIBLE recording session with Jason Walker and Heather Leigh West. Expect a house floor stomper to be released in the next few months. If you are unfamiliar with either of these vocalists, just take a peak into their history, both being Billboard Dance charting artists that have worked with some of the most talented producers in NYC.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and until next podcast . . .
keep dancing.

Podcast #18 is up! take a quick listen

I know I just wrote about the pod-casts, but . . .
Its officially live on iTunes, and at PodOmatic

And we have to apologize to MyPlatinumsound
We hyped up their mastering service, and failed to turn up the volume equally with podcast #17.
So . . . in lieu of this, we might do another podcast talking about "mastering", and what it does to sound. Hmmmmm . . . a potential interview maybe?

eyes to the sky!

SVN Podcast #17 and #18 "Light Show"

ok . . . ok . . . We know we said every week we would post stuff, but as it so happens our lives get in the way of things. A girlfriend's family could live in a faraway place, gear could break down, Logic Pro 9 could be released, video work could slow things down, a record label could be born, or just maybe, all the above, plus more.

All in all, though, we're doing pretty good at not being slackers.
Podcast #17 is up on itunes and Podomatic
Podcast #18 will be up shortly (by Wed, 8/5/9)

Both are entitled "Light Show" are are the respective remixes produced by Science and Nature.
To be released August 17, we expect this release to be a BIG hit. So, with the release, we're releasing two videos for VJ's to use as well. Über-fun.

"Dreamstate" will be released on 8/3/9, so if you liked "Room for Thought," this song pisses all over it (excuse my bluntness, but its true).

We are anxiously awaiting placement on Beatport and iTunes before we send the massive press release. Come-on guys . . . we're waaitiiing!

Another fun little thang:
We've starting using a mastering company: www.myplatinumsound.com
In podcast #17, the science version is unmastered, and in #18, the nature version is mastered.
If you are into music production, or don't know what a mastering session does to a song: take a close comparison between the two.
(if you produce, and want to use them, drop our name, and let them know we referred you)

And lastly,
We're looking for a few good men (or ladies . . . or even aliens, for that matter-squirrels not allowed-nasty little wire munchers) to remix some of our stuff. Expedition Recordings will pay for the mastering/marketing/distribution, and you make 25% off all sales of your remix. Not bad, eh? Contact them if you are interested.

Until our next word . . . .
Eyes to the sky, and keep dreaming big.

Just before the 4th, here's a little gift for everyone:
Thanks to our speedy little system, we can finally start cranking the tunes to ya!
In this podcast, we have two remixes of Dreamstate.
Also, we want to let everyone know,
Expedition Recordings will be releasing "Room for Thought" in a few weeks for digital downloading across the globe. Look for the press releases soon!
If you are a DJ, and want to play an "unwatermarked" version, shoot us an email.
All we ask is you get reactions and send them our way.
We'll promote you on our press release in return!

We're taking a week off, so expect another podcast in two weeks!
until then . . .

SVN Podcast #15 "Room For Thought"

Our new workflow is allowing us to produce two tracks a week, remixing our live rehearsals from the week. It provides a medium for DJs to play with our music, pushes us to produce for listeners at home, and enhances the "LIVE EXPERIENCE" by showcasing the Nature and Science sides of SVN.
This podcast includes two versions of a song we play live, entitled "Room for Thought".
Let us know what you think, as this stuff is written specifically FOR YOU!

Nature, Live in Philly

So there comes a time when two people need to do their own thing. There are also the times when its impossible for two people to be there, or not sensible for one to be there.

Hence, Nature has done his third gig beyond Science Vs Nature, and is doing some pretty wicked stuff. Last night he performed in Philadelphia, showed off some new tracks (one of which was the Science remix of "Dreamstate", a new SVN track that will blow your mind), and for the first time, DJ'ed vinyl while using a Euphonix MCMix tapped into Logic, and remixed the vinyl, LIVE.
The crowd didn't know what hit them!

All this was the nighttime.
During that day, SVN wrote a new podcast showing off our new system of writing/rehearsing.
The podcast details how Science Vs Nature writes for their live show, records their rehearsal, and the the two separate, writing their own remixes of their own material, return in a week, and do it all over again (in essence producing two tracks a week). Cool system, eh?
Well, check out the podcast this week, where you can hear the Science and the Nature sides of "Room for Thought".

SVN's first remix release on Kult Records

Hey all.
Sorry for the delay in letting everyone know about this.
We've been slammed getting the live show up and running. Between RAM issues, CPU chokes, and the redesigning of recording templates, i think we might be nearly 80% there. :-)
We are attempting to record every sound we play for you, LIVE, so that our live performance can be recorded and distributed almost instantaneously. In the studio, it will allow us to rehearse, record and release at an unstoppable speed. If you understand how much power that requires, you understand our issues. But we're almost there!

The music has been ridiculously good, though. We are planning on releasing 4 tracks a month WITH numerous remixes if this works. Let us know if you are interested in being a part of this monumental task!

and . . . without further adieu . . . released on 4/20 . . . written by Sebastien Gazeille . . .
Science Vs Nature's first remix release on Kult records can be found exclusively on Beatport.com

Live set posted on Website

So after conference, we realized that more than just the industry would enjoy our live set demo.
Its not available to download, but if you want it, just let us know and we'll send you an MP3.
The stream can be found on our site:
www.sciencevsnature.com

Fun little fact, this was our first time playing together in over 6 months as we've been extremely busy doing remix work and learning the new toys. This was take 3, and once we work out some kinks, you can only imagine how good this is going to be, as it already seems pretty F-N amazing.

KEEP IN MIND, this is NOT a DJ set. We are working/manipulating every sound LIVE using pre-sequenced patterns in Logic on two sets of Euphonix mixers and controllers.

Enjoy!

WMC 09 Day 6

Packed, and ready to wait 8 hours to get home . . .
we wandered the streets only to find one of my dearest friends on the beach from the night before. She looked like something out of a movie, disheveled, heels in hand (well, actually in a garbage bag with other belongings) still smiling, and ready for a glass of Veuve at her hotel.
I won't drop names, as she'll kill me for posting this with her name it, but i hope she takes the job in Amsterdam. It'll be the best thing she's done in years for herself.
Saw BT in the Lobby, and of course did the schmooze. Had too. It was BT.

Plane left 1 1/2 hours behind schedule, we arrived home in NYC 2 1/2 hours late.
The airline wasn't the best, and our hotel wasn't 5 stars, but after these past 5 days, we felt like we were riding the highest cloud on the planet and living the dream to its fullest.
THANK YOU MIAMI, and WMC09.
Eyes to the sky, and always a foot forward . . .

WMC 09 Day 5

Saturday. The last hoorah.
Planning on seeing Dave Seaman and Nick Warren at Shine.
But alas, a plane going overhead said Sasha was playing there tonight! WHAT????
A youtube video confirmed we should have gone to Shine the previous night, as Hybrid was there as well. grrrrr.
Anyway, we'll just have to deal with Sasha. Poor us. :-)
(several hours later......)
We're back from Shine. HOLY BASS BATMAN.
The sound guys must have a hearing deficiency in their lower frequencies. Our bones are still rattling from the distortion on the system. Sasha played fine, but sounded like crap.
Met his manager, Randy Reid, as well as another of his "crew", so hopefully we'll get a reception for our tunes.
And after a week of listening to other music, we put our headphones on and "zoned out" to compare ours withe the world at large in Miami. AND much to our surprise, we stood with the best. Well, i guess i wasn't suprised, but at least more confident. World, watch out, here we come!

WMC 09 Day 4

We took the day off . . .
well sorta.
Went to the beach, drank, slept, drank more, the ususal MIA matter.

Still managed to hand off cd's to The Scumfrog and his crew, who probably played the best set either of us heard all week at Feelgood's.

Saw some friends at the beach, and made new ones.

We needed the day off . . . .

WMC 09 day 3

After last night, i can't believe we're still standing. Up until 5 prepping for the next day of demos, handshaking, and whatnot.
24hrs later, doing the same thing, but with more stories . . .
Met LULA (last night a DJ saved my life), whom we did a remix of a new release from Kult records called "Overdose". We were told by her producer that our track was their favorite and could possibly be the breakthrough track of the album. Sweet. Met tons of others, but at this point, we're so exhausted that the business cards are our only recollections.

Spent a lot of time with the SAE sessions. Learned tons of production tips and remixing ideas from people with 20+ years in the industry. These people cared to help, and it was noticed by everyone in the room. Can't wait to get back into the studio and try some of the new tricks we've learned.

and lastly . . . big props to Redbull for pulling us through the day. Without it, i'm not sure if we could have survived.
:-P
until tomorrow . . .

WMC 09 Day 2

Our second day in South Beach started bright and early with a demo listen with Derek Scott Graves and Howard Kessler, among others. We asked them to listen to "Because of You", a track that we've been planning to pitch as a "radio" song. Great advice was received, albeit one of the panelists only said "I love the track. All you need to do is tighten it up."
WHAT?????
For all non-music writers, that translates basically into "I think you need more in your recipe, but i'm not sure what." Thanks for the help there, jeeves.

Quick break, and on to the marketing panel, which is always THE ONE SESSION that everyone should attend. Our packaging was well received (ie marketed well), and in high demand after the session. In all of it, though, the highlight was DJ RAP calling Science "Sweety".
 love it.
Poolside, bumped into an old friend from college daze, DJ SHORTEE. Great to see her as always, and even better catching up with all that she's done for the year. Don't get to see her enough.
A few drinks to the wind later, we pass out, wake up at 1:30am, head to the Global Underground party to hear Darren Emmerson.
Lainie Capicotto, "He just got off the decks. His set is over."
"WHAT?????  He was the reason we decided to show late so we could hear his new stuff."
"That's too bad.  Wanna meet him?"
"um, yeah!!!"
A few beats to the wind, and he's doing the robot dance in response to our cd cover, and seemed engaged. An introduction from Lainie didn't hurt, either.

All in all a good day.
Our music got heard and placed in a lot of important hands, today. Now the product has to speak for itself, which, we believe, is better than we could ever promote it.
Until next update . . . .

WMC 09 Day 1

Arriving 1/2 hr early, we have finally settled in to our first day at the conference.
Unbeknownst to me, Science has gotten us comps for a Ministry of Sound Party and a Global Underground party all on the same night as a Kult party (which we HAVE to represent). It'll be cool to meet the people we've remixed for Kult.

BUT before ANY of the fun begins, we have to prep CDs for giveaways.

Let us know if you are in the neighborhood, so you can get a FREE cd, that also includes a video we've been working on with Chris Shell, a video producer from Disco Down Productions, originally from Las Vegas, most recently from San Fran, and now based in NYC!!!!

Expect daily updates while we're here.

Let the games begin!!!!!

14,000+ hits, and boy are our fingers tired!

THANKS EVERYONE for all the attention! Our website (www.sciencevsnature.com) just passed 14,000 hits, and we're proud to say not all of them were us going to the site making sure it was still up and running! :-)

It's been several months since we wrote last. Sorry, but busy as usual.
Oddly, with the decline of the economy, we've rec'd more work from labels than ever before. Expect numerous remix releases in 2009, and not from closet DJ's or producers. Real deal, career musicians, and we're happy to be included in their destinations.
Once they are available to the world, we'll let everyone know.

We've also been cranking out remixes of our own material to be released in April, and working towards sneak peaks for everyone at Winter Music Conference this year. If you'll be in South Beach end of March let us know, and we'll meet up for a drink (or three!).

And lastly the live show . . .
Writing, rehearsals, more writing, and more rehearsing. Its never ending. But trust us. This spring will be incredible with loads of touring options that won't cost 1/3 of what it originally would have two years ago. The Euphonix MCcontrol and MCmix have changed everything for the better. We can't wait to show the world what we've designed for your ears.

Peace. Love and beats.
